How to Make a Difference This Week at the Montana Legislature

This upcoming week at the Legislature will feature several key bills involving mental health funding, suicide prevention and peer services.  

Please take a moment to make your voice heard. Your opinion can truly alter the debate whether you give it in person, through a message on the website, or by a phone message.

House Bill 2 (Children’s) – Overall Budget for Children’s Mental Health Bureau – DPHHS will present the budget for the Children’s Mental Health Bureau on Monday, January 21st at 8:00 a.m. Public comment is expected to go at around 10:00 a.m. Please take moment and let this Committee know that you think it is critically important to fund children’s mental health services.  You can send your message to the Committee at this linkMake sure to choose “(J) Health and Human Services” on the “Select a Committee” drop down menu.You can also leave the Committee a message by calling (406) 444-3064.

HB 186 –  Funding for Depression Screening in Public Schools, Sponsored by Rep. Mary Ann Dunwell. HB 186 will be heard on January 22nd in the House Human Service Committee at 3:00 pm in Room 152.  You can in person or send your message to the Committee at this link. Make sure to choose “(H) Human Services” on the “Select a Committee” drop down menu.You can also leave the Committee a message by calling (406) 444-3064.

HB 187 – Funding for Youth Suicide Prevention Grants, Sponsored by Rep. Mary Ann Dunwell. SB 30 – Allowing Peer Support Services to Be Reimbursed by Medicaid, Sponsored by Senator Jen Gross. SB 30 will be heard on January 23rd in the Senate Public Health, Welfare, and Safety Committee at 2:00 pm in Room 317.  You can in person or send your message to the Committee at this link. Make sure to choose “(S) Public Health, Welfare, and Safety” on the “Select a Committee” drop down menu. You can also leave the Committee a message by calling (406) 444-3064.
