NAMI Montana is excited to announce that Montana House Bill 295 was signed into law. The bill was sponsored by Rep. Mary Caferro at the request of NAMI Montana. It makes it explicitly legal for licensed therapists to deliver cognitive behavioral therapy for chronic pain in Montana. NAMI Montana is hopeful this explicit clarification will expand access to CBT for Chronic Pain in Montana. The bill was inspired by our work on the Creating Options for Veterans Expedited Recovery (COVER) Commission and particularly the visit to the Tampa VA hospital.
Thanks to Representative Caferro and everyone who supported this great bill to improve access to psychotherapy for Montanans who live with chronic pain.
