TEACHER AND FACILITATOR TRAINING 

      ARE YOU OR IS SOMEONE YOU KNOW INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING AS A                     TEACHER OR FACILITATOR IN NAMI PROGRAMS?  THE FOLLOWING                           ANNOUNCEMENT OUTLINES NAMI-MT’S 2020 TRAINING SCHEDULE.
                           
            

                   
                      All trainings have been postponed due to COVID-19.

FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR TRAINING STARTS 9:00 AM ON SATURDAY THROUGH 5:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY.  THIS IS A TRAINING TO DEVELOP SUPPORT GROUPS FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS.  IT IS HELPFUL FOR POTENTIAL FACILITATORS TO HAVE TAKEN THE FAMILY TO FAMILY EDUCATION COURSE, BUT NOT MANDATORY.    FACILITATORS SHOULD HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS.  IF YOU DON’T CURRENTLY HAVE A SUPPORT GROUP IN YOUR COMMUNITY OR IF YOU ARE TRYING TO START AN ADDITIONAL SUPPORT GROUP, WE RECOMMEND AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE FROM THE COMMUNITY ATTEND THE TRAINING.   SINGLE REPLACEMENT OR SUBSTITUTE FACILITATOR TRAINEES FOR SUPPORT GROUPS ALREADY ESTABLISHED IN COMMUNITIES ARE WELCOME.  TWO YEAR COMMITMENT.

NAMI CONNECTION STARTS SATURDAY MORNING 9:00 AM THROUGH SUNDAY 5:00 PM.   FACILITATORS FOR THIS PROGRAM ARE INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND AT A POINT IN RECOVERY WHERE THEY WANT TO “GIVE BACK” TO OTHERS. THE TRAINING IS DESIGNED TO HELP THEM DEVELOP THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO FACILITATE A NAMI CONNECTION RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP.   TWO TRAINED FACILITATORS ARE REQUIRED TO CONDUCT SUPPORT GROUPS IN YOUR COMMUNITY.  THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A PLACE TO SHARE EXPERIENCES AND USE THEM AS LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE GROUP. FAMILY TO FAMILY TEACHER TRAINING WILL BEGIN 9:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY THROUGH 5:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY.  PARTICIPANTS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE FAMILY TO FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAM, HOWEVER, SOME EXCEPTIONS MAY APPLY.  TWO PEOPLE FROM AN AREA IS PREFERRED ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE SOME TEACHERS TRAINED IN THE FAMILY TO FAMILY PROGRAM IN YOUR COMMUNITY.  IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRAINED, BUT HAVE NOT TAUGHT THE COURSE FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS WE ASK THAT YOU ATTEND THE TRAINING FOR A REFRESHER.  YOU ARE ASKED TO COMMIT TO THE PROGRAM FOR TWO YEARS.  TRAINERS:  THERESA CHARLTON, ERIC GRIFFIN.
 
PEER TO PEER EDUCATION PROGRAM STARTS 1:00 P.M. SATURDAY THROUGH 5:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY.  TEAMS ARE MADE UP OF TWO PERSONS WHO HAVE AND ARE IN RECOVERY FROM SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS.   PEER TO PEER IS A EIGHT WEEK (ONE DAY OR NIGHT A WEEK FOR TWO HOURS) EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION COURSE ON RECOVERY FOR ANY PERSON WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS INTERESTED IN MAINTAINING WELLNESS.  THE COURSE USES A COMBINATION OF LECTURE, INTERACTIVE EXERCISES AND STRUCTURED GROUP PROCESSES TO PROMOTE AWARENESS, PROVIDE INFORMATION AND OFFER OPPORTUNITIES TO REFLECT ON THE IMPACT OF MENTAL ILLNESS FOR EACH PARTICIPANT.

NAMI IOOV IS A ONE DAY TRAINING AND WILL START AT 9:00 AM ON FRIDAY AND WILL END AT 5:OO PM.  THE COURSE IS TAUGHT BY TRAINED INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE IN RECOVERY WITH MENTAL ILLNESS. IT IS RECOMMENDED TWO PEOPLE COME FROM A COMMUNITY WHO ARE IN RECOVERY TO BE TRAINED TO GIVE THE IOOV PRESENTATION. IOOV IS A FREE PRESENTATION FOR ANYONE TO ATTEND WHO IS INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH  MENTAL ILLNESS AND THEIR RECOVERY JOURNEY.
