Matt Kuntz is the Executive Director of NAMI Montana, where he leads the organization’s efforts to improve the lives of Montanans with mental health conditions and their families through support, education, and advocacy. . Since joining NAMI Montana in 2008, Matt has helped grow the organization into a nationally recognized leader in mental health policy, research partnerships, and grassroots advocacy.

Matt has played a key role in the development and passage of major federal and state mental health legislation, including multiple Congressional initiatives focused on improving mental health care for service members and veterans. He served on the Creating Options for Veterans Expedited Recovery (COVER) Commission and two terms on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Research Advisory Council, advising Congress and senior VA leadership on mental health research priorities.

An Army veteran and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Matt also holds a Juris Doctor and a Master’s degree in Health Administration. He lives in Helena, Montana, and is deeply committed to advancing long-term, evidence-based solutions that strengthen mental health systems and improve outcomes for individuals and families across the state.
